  For Boston, for Boston,
  We sing our proud refrain!

  For Boston, for Boston,
  'Tis widsom's earthly fane.

For here all are one, and
  their hearts are true, and
  The towers on the Heights
  reach to Heaven's own blue.

  For Boston, For Boston,
  Till the echoes ring again!

Boston College: In Quotes V

And now for a reader favorite, BC in Quotes. See posts I, II, III, and IV.

BC plans to fill in the reservoir, construct a 200 foot middle-finger made of gold that rotates to face Brookline and Chestnut Hill with a neon sign that reads ‘We were here first, if you need a quality realtor to sell your property, please let us know.’
-Message boarder "pinhead #2"

We don't advocate doing what Boston College did a couple of years ago, when they formed a committee to suggest and implement new traditions. That's just illegitimate.
-Eastern University Student Paper Editorial

Boston College kicked the Irish into over a decade of mediocrity.
-Frank Vitovitch, uhnd.com columnist, regarding the Notre Dame football program's Return to Mediocrity following BC's 41-39 victory in 1993

BC is going to have to prove itself all over again in '05-06 because … its 5-5 finish in '04-05 had folks jumping off the Eagles bandwagon faster than Jermaine Watson out a second-story window.
-Luke Winn, cnnsi.com writer, discussing the Boston College men's basketball teams Power Rankings of 13

Last week against the University of Virginia was an embarrassment on national TV for our fan base. It was raining. So what.
-Michael Ireland, EagleAction.com writer

It will be raining, so the plan of attack might be to watch it on tv somewhere, then hit up Shea Field immediately following the game.
-BC student blogger "Pearcey&Greels" prior to the Wake Forest game

I was at Boston College shooting a package today with my partner. My expectation, and yes it is some ways not positive, was that I’d get spit on by everyone I asked for help ... Boston College proved a different holy ground, one where people not only allowed us to shoot footage in their chapels, but provided advice as well. It is very refreshing when you realize there are individuals who recognize their common man.

I’m not saying this has never happened at Boston University; it’s just that at BU you get the “cool” kids, the alleged “in-crowd.” You can spot these characters by their swagger, popped collars and pushed out chests ... So what is the lesson? Boston College is a cooler, nicer place? Nope. In fact, BC may have more popped collars and pink shirts than any other mile radius on the planet. The point is that you should look out for another person. It doesn’t take much time or effort to point someone in the right direction. No one had to assist me today, but people chose to and now I have material to cover my ass in journalism class. It’s fun being human and might even be rewarding. Try it some time...
-Michael Vitale, BU student blogger

I think it would eliminate the current confusion and angst about polls and rankings.
-Boston College president William P. Leahy, SJ, making the case for an NCAA football playoff system

Has anyone ever heard of Eastern University? And is there anything legit about it in the first place?

Blogger BC Eagle said ... (10/18/2005 04:22:00 PM) :

Play nice... But it is pretty funny that they would criticize tradition-making - Eastern was granted University status in 2001!

If attendence for the U.Va. game was an embarassment, what was the Wake game?

"BC in Quotes" seems to have a thing about popped collars/sailing/prepdom ... I graduated in 00 and don't remember this being as overwhelming as it now seems to be ... or is this just a personal crusade pro/con, BC Eagle?

re: popped collars - Hey, I'm not the one making the quotes, I'm just reporting them, and they're everywhere.
