  For Boston, for Boston,
  We sing our proud refrain!

  For Boston, for Boston,
  'Tis widsom's earthly fane.

For here all are one, and
  their hearts are true, and
  The towers on the Heights
  reach to Heaven's own blue.

  For Boston, For Boston,
  Till the echoes ring again!

Boston College Athletics Roundup

Hajjar Family Football Museum

I finally visited the newly-opened Hajjar Family Football Museum, which is located in the main entry area of the new Yawkey Athletics Center. The museum is a wonderful addition to the campus.

The museum features a variety of interactive and informational displays. The highlights include a touch-screen video kiosk where fans can replay the best moments from the history of BC football, and an open display of the Heisman Trophy won by Doug Flutie in 1984.

There are also display cases honoring BC’s All-American players, outstanding linemen, award winners, and Eagles who have gone on to the NFL.

Unfortunately, the museum is closed on weekends and its use of memorabilia has left the center column in the Conte Forum display cases momentarily empty - a sad sight for this alum that used to genuflect everytime he passed Mike Mottau's Hobey Baker.

Doug Flutie Article in Sports Illustrated

This blog will not report every time Doug Flutie receives press coverage, but there is an outstanding article in the most recent Sports Illustrated about Doug and his autistic 13-year old son, Doug Jr. (subscription to SI necessary to read entire article). The article balances the uplifting story of Flutie's success as an athlete and father with the frustrating and disheartening realities of Doug Jr.'s condition.

Please support the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism if you can, or bookmark the Foundation's website and return when you are able to support.

Women's Soccer

The women's soccer team lost 3-0 at FSU this weekend, taking the high-flying Eagles down a notch prior to this Thursday's marquee matchup against #1 ranked UNC on the Newton Campus. Go to the game.

The Boston College co-ed Sailing team is now the #1 team in the nation, according to Sailing World.

More Football

Am I the only person who absolutey hates the loud "screetching eagle" sound played at Alumni after the team scores?

I know that I'm not the only person who absolutely hates the attendance habits of Boston College fans. Is the only way to get Alumni packed is to play 1) a ranked team in 2) perfect weather conditions 3) after 6:00pm ?
